- Conclusions
If you don’t have time to read the full review we think the Dirty Pro Tools 2500W is a competent rotary/impact shredder. It doesn’t rival the best impact shredders available but is a good all round performer.
The Dirty Pro is an impact shredder that is styled more like a quiet shredder. It has a 50L, integrated collection bin but, unlike most quiet shredders, you can remove the bin and shred to the ground or into a bag. It certainly makes the shredder more versatile. Just don’t let the styling convince you you are buying a quiet machine
Here’s what you get in brief:
Large wheels for ease of manoeuvrability,6 meter power cable
Large 50 Litre integrated collection box, Easy view of bin when full
2500 watt motor turning out 4050 RPM, With the safety cut out switch
Will shred up to 40mm thick branches

Technical Details
Feature | Value | Comment | |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Throughput | Not Stated | One regular comment is that this shredder works a bit slowly |
2 | Motor | 2500 | |
3 | Shredding Mechanism | Rotary - impact cut | Steel blades. Spare set provided with the shredder |
4 | Max diameter that can be cut | 40mm | |
5 | Collection box capacity | 50L | While this shredder is sold as an 'integrated' machine, it can be used without the collection box in place |
6 | Cable length | 6m | This is very good for this class of shredder. You will still need a heavy duty, outdoor extension lead so you can easily move the shredder to where you want to do the shredding. |
7 | Other features | 4,050rpm cutting Leads to operating noise in the 111dB to 106dB | Faster rotation increases the shredding ability. It also leads to much more noise. At 111dB this is one of the noisiest garden shredders we have ever reviewed |
8 | Weight | 15kg | |
9 | Guarantee/Warranty | Not stated. Uk Statutory requirement is 12 months | 30 day returns policy. Needs items to be returned in original packaging and as bought condition. We are not sure this will ever be achievable |
What’s Good, What’s not
The Good
There is nothing particularly bad about this shredder. It shreds woody waste well.
The quiet shredder styling makes for a compact machine. Combined with light weight, large wheels, and the compact design – the Dirty Pro is easily moved and positioned.
Controls are very simple and easy to use.
This is the only shredder that we know of that ships with a spare set of blades. All rotary/impact shredders are going to cause the blades to deteriorate over time. It’s good to get spare blades so you can always have a sharpened set to hand.
At this price point it provides a decent combination of performance and economy.
The not so good
Despite the power and high rotational speed, we doubt whether shredding up to the claimed 40mm diameter is readily achievable. Users also comment on a low shredding capacity.
More surprisingly for a rotary machine, users also say it doesn’t deal with soft, green twiggy waste as well as we would expect. After all, many of us would turn to a rotary shredder to deal with just this sort of brush waste.
The outlet is prone to blocking and jamming when shredding softer, green materials. There is a safety plate across the outlet opening to stop foolish people sticking their hands up and possibly reaching the blades. Some users report removing this plate stops the blockage problem. We would never support the removal of safety devices to improve the operation of a shredder.
Like many other shredders in this class, the Dirty Pro Tools 2500 is a noisy machine. Rated at 111dB this is a seriously noisy machine. You absolutely will need to use good hearing protection when using this machine.
Warranty terms are not clear. We assume you will only have your statutory rights. Dirty Pro do offer a 30 day returns policy but ask for the shredder to be return in it’s original packaging and in an ‘as bought’ condition. For many of us that might be a difficult ask.
About Dirty Pro Tools
Dirty Pro Tools is a UK Company based in Derby. Started in 1984, it sells a remarkable range of items from garden tools, motor mechanics tools, fitness machinery, and on to gun cases and cabinets. The tools and machinery they supply are of good quality.
You can buy direct from Dirty Pro Tools too.
Dirty Pro Tools do not manufacture themselves. All of the equipment they sell seems to be bought in and Dirty Pro branded. There is nothing at all wrong with this approach – it is very common in the garden tools supply area. It does mean that sometimes you can find the same or an equivalent machine available from another supplier.
Conclusion
The “Dirty Pro Tools™ Garden Shredder 40mm Cutting Width Electric 2500W 4050 RPM Blade” – that name will never run of the tongue – is an impact shredder that looks like a quiet shredder. It shreds woody waste up to 25mm well. Getting up to 40mm might be a bit of a stretch.
Overall it performs well enough at the price point. It is certainly worth a look – particularly if you can find it on offer.
Other Impact Shredders to Consider
The impact garden shredder market is the most crowded. There are many, very good machines to choose from. For now, our choice for best impact garden shredder remains the Bosch AXT 2200 Rapid.
Here are a few more options you might like to consider.
